Railfest 2007-2015 videos

Brad's railfanning series

Me and my brother went to North Platte for the rail fest weekend. We stopped at Casey's in Grand Island for fuel for the car and a few snacks for me and my brother. The next stop is in Kearney is at advance auto parts store to get oil for the car and anti-freeze for the car. We drove on US highway 30 to Gothenburg,NE to use the detour.

Unfortunately, there was a parade in Gothenburg. So i drove to the Gothenburg library to turn around to take Lake Avenue crossing in Gothenburg. Across the train tracks to Highway 47 to get to Interstate 80 to exit 177 going north to Wal-Mart subway and ate at the parking lot.  After lunch, we went to downtown North Platte to the canopy depot to ride the train. But before we get to ride the train, we went to the model train show at the old ALCO discount store to see the model trains on display. After that, we waited for the tickets to get on the train. We were on the waiting list to ride the train. Lucky for us, we rode on the train and rode on the city of Salina car. We rode on the train from North Platte to Brady and back talking about Operational Lifesaver. We didn't pay anything to ride the train.

Next place we went to Cody Park and all we did there was to walk around for about an hour. After that, we took the interstate to State Highway 47 in Gothenburg to Lake Avenue and used Lake Avenue crossing and turned right on US Highway 30 to film 5 Union Pacific trains from Cozad to Alda and got home around 7 Saturday Night.

Next day, Me and my brother went back to North Platte for the rail fest. We stopped at Casey's in Grand Island for fuel for the car. We decided to take the interstate from Alda to Exit 179 in North Platte to US 30 and followed US 30 to US 83 to Cody Park. I nearly fell on the bad sidewalk at Cody Park. We walked around the vendors to get stuff and visited my co-workers there at Cody Park.

We also walked to the train display to see the UP 3977 & the UP 6922 and old train cars there, too. We ate at Cody Park Concessions and we both have cheeseburgers and fries with us bringing bottled water. After we ate, we sign the waiver to the Union Pacific railroad's Bailey Yard. After that, we rode the bus to the bailey yard to see what the railroad is talking about it. Also, get to see the heritage locomotives at the diesel shop in North Platte. After that, we rode the bus back to Cody Park. We filmed trains from Maxwell to Elm Creek. We also take US 30 from 4th street in North Platte to Brady with a detour coming up. After that, we took the interstate from Brady to State Highway 47 in Gothenburg to Lake Avenue and used Lake Avenue crossing and turned right on US Highway 30 to film 14 trains for a grand total of 19 trains over the weekend. We had a great time at railfest. If i had to say about it, i suggest you go to railfest next year.

I found out that railfest is canceled for next year and beyond. The reason for the cancelation is lack of volunteers to run railfest.
